Now and then the last year, ever since I read this manhwa, I’ve been browsing the internet for Let Dai and come up short handed. Now, I found it at my go to dealer for manga/manhwa/books/comics I of course start to sing an ode to joy. The beautiful (my neighbor doesn’t agree) singing comes to an abrupt end (my neighbor gives me an applaud out of gratefulness that I finally shut up) when I realise that volume three is out of stock. So, the search for volume three is a fact. When I start to search I don’t stop. I need that manhwa and I need it now. So I browse and I browse and I browse. It’s out of stock everywhere. OR, it is sold to ridiculous amounts. Yup, 55$ is not an exaggeration. Everywhere I do find it, even the used ones, costs 5 times the listed price. I probably wake up my neighbor with my desperate scream. I want that damn manhwa, even more now that I can’t have a complete series. Because, I can’t buy a series of 15 volumes and not have volume three, and I refuse to pay 55$ for a used copy. On a whim I email the publisher and then I go to bed. This morning I wake up to this.
We confirmed that we have small amount of copies of Let Dai Volume 3 at our own warehouse and updated the status of the book on our shop.
Seriously, I want to kiss someone. I am glad I emailed them. Soon I have the whole series on my bookshelf. I have no idea how much the shipping is from Korea but the 15 volumes cost only 105$ which in my book is a bargain.
So, what’s Let Dai about you ask. (from Baka-Updates Manga)
Let Dai is a tragic tale of forbidden love and unforgivable betrayal. Set in a soulless neo-Seoul ruled by young punks and pleasure-seekers, an amoral teenager named Dai is the living embodiment of the city’s beauty and cruelty. As the leader of the vicious Furies gang, Dai seduces everyone who lays eyes on him, only to blind them to his own barbaric nature.
When an honest schoolboy named Jaehee rescues a beautiful girl from being mugged by the Furies, he can’t possibly realize how this brief encounter will plunge him into a downward spiral of unbridled passion and unfathomable pain. From his brutal gang initiation to an unspeakable act committed against his girlfriend, Jaehee wavers uncomfortably between revulsion and fascination. And in Dai he finds a tender, caring friend one moment and a heartless sociopath the next, awakening strange and unhealthy desires in Jaehee that he could never before have imagined.
Pretty much that. *points up* But also so much more. It’s dark and twisted. There’s nothing cute about it, they are not a lovey dovey couple in any way. There are not really any happy endings, mostly (cruel, dark, brutal) life. A lot of emotion in this one.
